Overview

Amanda Moses Psychology trains psychologists. Its flagship course prepares provisional psychologists for the National Psychology Exam, and more than 8,500 psychologists subscribe to its weekly newsletter. For a training business, the website is not a shopfront. It is the product.

However, the courses, clinical resources, bundle pricing and members’ community were all running on a platform never built to carry them.

Key Challenges

A training business runs on access. Every course, resource and membership has to be granted, tracked and eventually taken away, and almost none of that was automated.

  • People lost at the checkout. Enrolment was failing on email delivery and security checks, so customers who had decided to buy were not always getting in.
  • Admin absorbing the founder’s time. Expired users were removed by hand, course extensions were processed manually, and certificates generated inconsistently.
  • International buyers priced in the wrong currency. Psychologists in the US, UK, Canada and Europe were shown Australian dollars, GST inclusive, on invoices that then excluded the GST.
  • Live events running outside the website. Ticketing, registration and access all sat on a third-party platform, disconnected from the courses and resources people bought alongside them.
  • A catalogue that overwhelmed people. Courses, resources and bundles sat together without grouping or filtering, and the larger bundles were selling poorly as a result.
Our Solutions & Process

Phase 1: Scoping a business, not a website

Amanda’s catalogue spans courses, downloadable resources, live events and membership, each with different delivery and access rules. Getting that structure right mattered more than any single page.

  • The business and existing site analysed before any design work, informing the visuals and the migration plan
  • Every product line mapped, from courses with enrolment to resources that download instantly
  • Access expiry, automated reminders and bundle upgrade logic specified before anything was built
  • Web design for the homepage and key pages presented and refined before build began

Phase 2: Building the learning platform

A training business is judged on what happens after the purchase. This phase built the part of the platform customers spend their time inside.

  • LearnDash implemented to carry the course catalogue
  • One course module built and tested first, before the rest followed
  • Existing workshops restructured into the CPD course catalogue
  • Live workshops and webinars brought onto the site from a third-party platform

Phase 3: Building the commerce engine

The catalogue sells four different things: courses with enrolment, resources without it, live events with tickets, and bundles that combine them. The commerce engine had to handle all four.

  • WooCommerce implemented with cart, checkout and a customer account area
  • Prices shown in AUD, USD, EUR and GBP, so overseas buyers see their own currency
  • Bundles built as products in their own right, with upgrade paths between tiers
  • Clinical resources regrouped by purpose and given filters and tags, so a large catalogue could be searched rather than scrolled
  • Invoicing rebuilt to Australian tax requirements, with GST line, invoice numbering and business address

Phase 4: Migration and launch

Rebuilding the platform was only half the job. The website migration itself had to be planned, because years of blog content were carrying the site’s search visibility.

  • Full existing-user migration planned and executed
  • Blog content brought across to protect the site’s search visibility
  • Hosting reviewed and a deployment plan written before anything moved
  • GA4 and Google Tag Manager implemented, so performance could be measured after launch
  • Site launched with the full catalogue, memberships and events live

The Bottom Line

Amanda Moses Psychology runs on expertise, and everything that carries it to customers now sits in one place. Seven months from kick-off, the platform teaches, takes payment in four currencies, handles bundles and upgrades, hosts live events and makes a large catalogue searchable.

Every existing customer came across without losing what they had paid for, and the blog archive kept its search visibility. The work that used to be done by hand now sits with the platform.
